What happens when you order some support from a therapist?
Your order comes through to us and we will ask the chosen practitioner to get in touch asap. They will often do a free initial session (hence why it says £0.00!) so you can have a quick chat about your issue and see if you 'gel', which is very important when choosing your practitioner, of course. We pride ourselves on making sure we are right for you and are likely to be able to help before we take you on, so don't be afraid to chat even if you're not sure; I promise, we don't bite and we're quite normal really :)
Some therapists may ask you to complete a questionnaire or some forms or something before a session, but not all of them. We all work differently; I like to hear people say things in their own words but some therapists might use specific algorithms from your questions etc to help get to the nub of a complex case. Horses for courses. Talk to them about what you want and feel comfortable with BUT, remember: they know what they are doing and are actually in the process of helping you right from the first word. Trust them.
Does it really work by Skype/video or should I see the therapist face to face?
Sometimes a first in-clinic session can be a good idea to really get to know each other but, let's face it, if you live in India and we're in England, that just isn't likely and, in fact, we do most sessions by video now and it works really well. I was initially sceptical (and old-fashioned!) but have been truly surprised that there is not that much difference. Some therapists prefer an initial face to face and they'll talk to you about it. If we feel, at any time, you would be better served by some local support, we will always say so. In fact, we often work with your local practitioner if you want us to.
I hate being on screen. Can I do it by phone?
Of course. You can do it by phone (preferably not mobile) or even Live Chat or carrier pigeon; it is whatever is most comfortable for you.
Am I under any obligation?
None at all. Once you've been put together with a therapist, it's between you two. You can book a session, a course of sessions or decide against it; it's entirely up to you and you do what you feel comfortable with and ready for. It is your body; we are just here to help you make sense of it and help you change it if necessary!
Can I see more than one therapist at a time?
You can do whatever you need. Most illnesses are complex and need help on several different fronts either simultaneously or one after another. We encourage a multi-pronged approach to illness; it usually works better and more quickly.
Why does it say £0.00 on some therapists?
Simply because these therapists offer free initial chats and also because, like the lab test service, I don't take your money; they do. Just click through to see their fees, book what you need and they will take your payment for the session as appropriate. Saves me a ton of time!
